This subdirectory contains sysctls which tune different parts of the IPv4 networking stack.
The IPv4 network stack has three protocols that are managed in this subcomponent. The IP layer is the basic packet routing and transport and its management includes packet buffering and transport limits. The TCP layer manages reliable data streams and its management includes data flow control, connection management, and various timeouts and congestion control. The third protocol group is the network management protocols layered over IP which manage routing and network connectivity. Consult the ip(7), tcp(7), and icmp(7) man pages for more detail.
